5K Run
For Your Life – This race was organized
during the spring and the proceeds were donated
to the AAPA’s Host City Prevention Campaign.
Cow Chip Bingo
– This crazy event with cows wandering around
1,000 plots raised even more money to donate to
the AAPA’s Host City Prevention Campaign.
National PA Day Blood
Pressure Checks – Students took free
blood pressure readings and distributed medical
information outside Everybody’s grocery
store in celebration of National PA Day.
National Primary Care
Week – Students again took free blood
pressure checks and free blood glucose monitoring
along with UCONN medical students at the Meridan
Square Mall.
Thanksgiving Food Drive
– Canned foods and other goods were donated
and drop off sites were set up in the Hamden/Cheshire
area.
ConnAPA Phone-A-Thon
– Money was raised for the student scholarships
offered by the Connecticut APA.
Adopt a Family
– The class came together to bring a little
bit of Christmas to a family in the Hamden area
buy donating items and buying them a Christmas
tree and gifts.
KEEPS project –
Throughout the year students volunteered at KEEPS
to help with the early detection of kidney disease.
New Haven Green Homeless
Night – Students prepared sack meals
and distributed them (and other goods) to those
who needed them on the New Haven Green.
Asthma Camp –
Students volunteered at least two days to provide
medical care to children attending a nearby asthma
camp. |
