UNIT 8 - Cerebellum
A functional approach is presented in Unit 8 in order to maintain relevance and present, in an orderly fashion, the cerebellum and its role in normal movement.
Educational Objectives:
Upon completion of this unit the student will be able to:
1. Identify major structural components of the cerebellum, given a variety ofanatomical drawings.
2. Describe the schema commonly used in dividing the cerebellum functionally and identify basic structural components of each.
3. Describe in writing the functional significance of schema named above.
4. List the major types of sensory input received by the cerebellum through each of the cerebellar peduncles.
Movement characterized as a sensory-motor phenomenon is comprised of a complex variety of inputs. This unit will present selected sensory end organs in order to give the therapist a complete picture of the central nervous system function.
