UNIT 4 - Receptors
Movement characterized as a sensory-motor phenomenon is comprised of a complex variety of inputs. This unit will present selected sensory end organs in order to give the therapist a complete picture of the central nervous system function.
Educational Objectives:
Upon completion of this unit, the student will be able to:
1. Describe in writing the characteristics of each receptor described.
2. Explain in writing the functional significance of each receptor identified above as related to function.
3. Describe, in writing, the anatomical and functional characteristics of the muscle spindle.
4. Describe, in writing, the function and location of the Golgi Tendon Organ.
5. Describe, in writing, the vestibular receptors and their function.
