UNIT 11 - Efferent Pathways
This unit will present the efferent projections and their related influences on the “final common pathway”.
Educational Objectives:
Upon completion of this unit the student will be able to:
1. Describe in writing the origin and course, this includes interconnections and final
destination, of each major descending motor pathway.
2. Describe in writing the functional significance of the pathways above as related to their
influences on normal movement.
3. Describe in writing the difference between what is referred to as the corticospinal and corticoreticular
components of the Systems Model of motor control.
