UNIT 10 RETICULAR SYSTEM
This unit will present the structure and function of the reticular system, the central core of the brain stem, to help increase the therapist's functional understanding of many structures previously mentioned and will serve as a basis for the motor systems which are to follow.
Educational Objectives:
Upon completion of this unit the student will be able to:
1. List major groups of nuclei composing the Reticular Formation.
2. Describe in writing the functions of the major groups of reticular nuclei.
3. Describe in writing the function of the reticular activating system.
4. Describe in writing the Reticular Formation as it relates to its influences on muscle tone, motor activity, and visceral activity.
